Description

Improve your running, motive yourself and see your trends with RUNNING LOG.

We created this app to track our running without the need to carry a device (no GPS)! Enter details about your runs, view trends and graphs, receive reminders, stay motivated.

To log a run, double-tap or long-touch any calendar day. Then record:

* distance (km/mi)

* duration

* effort level

* type of run (cross country, intervals, race, etc. - choose from 15!)

* route name

* group runs

* rest days

* freeform notes

Whether you're a pro or a casual runner, RUNNING LOG is an invaluable tool to help you stick to your goals and track your progress.

What's New in Version 2.1

Thank you for your feedback on the last update. Please find the following improvements:
- added excel email export support
- + (add) button in Calendar now adds to last selected calendar day instead of always to today
- changed input of distance and pace from scrolling to text entry
- added “remove” at run section header to delete given run entry
- improved display of selected day’s data under calendar
- added "walk" as a run type
- fixed bug with pace
- various other bug fixes
PLEASE NOTE: Runs can be added by:
1. Double-tapping or long-pressing any date on the calendar
OR
2. Single tapping a date and then tapping the plus sign

Lots of lost opportunities: could be easily improved

This is a good application with lots of lost opportunities. I have been using it regularly for two months now and feel I can write confidently about the pro and cons of the app.
GOOD:
1) the running log is basically always with you (if you carry your iphone/ipod, that is): you don't have to wait to log on to your computer or to reach for the hardcopy of your log, if you ever had one. You can input and then review data when you want.
2) there is space for logging lots of information: type of run, place, effort, you name it.

BAD
1) There is very little use of the information collected. It would be good to be able to see a summary (and progress) by type of running: for instance, how I did in the last month only for speed of for long runs
2) Data input is a bit cumbersome and it is relatively easy to lose data before saving
3) It does not seem possible to erase a run
4) Multiple runs in the same day are shown separately on the graph, which make very little sense because the graphs do not differentiate by type of running

Bottomline: it's good for recording, but less good for analyzing data which is after all the reason why we like to keep a running log. It's a pity because the information is all there and the summary functions could be added very easily (well, I imagine). I even try to email the log data but the excel file is hard to use because all the punctuation in the notes is interpreted as new cells and you don't get a net table.

I like it but it needs work

This is a nice app but there's some glitches. I always log my miles on here and it's fun to go back and look at them. But right now it just loads the startup screen and then crashes so I can't log anything and if I reinstall the app I'll lose my data. So all in all it's great but it has a long way to go.

Good app- needs some work

:
This app is a good basic App. It needs to be updated with a function that allows you to add multiple parts of a workout under one run instead of under a separate run. For instance, warmup pace and distance, tempo run pace/distance and cooldown pace and distance. A function that allows you to add an incline degree if you are on a treadmill is good too. Also needs to add tempo run as a type of run. This is a huge oversight. Everyone I know does tempo runs. Also needs a function to put in distance and pace that figures out total duration automatically instead of the other way around.
